Film giant Pinewood strikes deal with a leading Welsh television production company

Pinewood Strikes Deal, Afanti Media

Pinewood Pictures is investing in Avanti Media that will see it produce a string of new light entertainment programmes tipped for global success.

Pinewood Pictures has struck an investment deal with independent TV production firm Avant Media, which will see a raft of new light entertainment programmes made primed for global distribution.

The deal sees Pinewood providing funding to support new content from Cardiff-based Avanti – which also has an office in London – with the aim of selling programmes to broadcasters worldwide via Sky Vision.

Pinewood Pictures is the part of Pinewood Studio Group.

It funds TV and film productions, as well as games, via the £25m Isle of Man Media Development Fund and the Welsh Government’s media investment budget.

Avanti’s co-founder, Emyr Afan said: “Avanti has long admired the Pinewood brand and the fact that they have chosen to partner with us on the creation of returnable worldwide formats means a great deal to our creative team.”

Pinewood Pictures senior vice-president, Robert Norris added: “We are very excited by this new relationship and are thrilled to be working with the successful, vibrant and dynamic creative team at Avanti.”
